Very interesting to see the release of AD Replication Status Tool from a dedicated group of people in MSFT. I had a read of the release on Technet Blog post from Ask the Directory Services Team and probably give it a try tomorrow.
This is a read only tool and comes with a compilation of recommended troubleshooting content for replication error.

• .NET Framework 4.0 (you may be prompted to install .NET Framework 3.5.1 first on Windows Server 2008)
• Application must be installed on a domain member machine for monitoring
